  • FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR RENOVATION AND MODERNISATION OF THE WATER SUPPLY AND  DRAINAGE SYSTEM, PYONYANG (2000-2001)

Pyonyang's population of 3 million persons is 86% urban. The water supply  system is in a state of general disrepair and the water purification  plants and pumping stations are only partly functional. The city's  stormwater drainage system is experiencing problems with sedimentation  leading to lack of capacity and frequent flooding of roadways.   This feasibility study will identify measures to normalise water  production of existing plants and increase their production capacities,  upgrade and normalise the operation of pumping facilities, strengthen leak  detection, introduce gauging for water production and supply systems,  repair stormwater drainage systems and strengthen capacity for maintenance  and management.
