LAKE COLERIDGE HEP PRIVATISATION DUE DILIGENCE STUDY (1998)

Client:  Asia Power Pty Ltd

The project involved a due diligence study of a 34.5 MW hydroelectric power facility which was offered for sale by the Electricity Commission of New Zealand. The study, commissioned by Asia Power Pty Ltd in order to prepare a bid, addressed the history and present condition of the project and included consideration of development options and project valuation.

As part of a specialist team, SMEC assessed the present condition and the operational/maintenance history of the civil and electrical components of the project, including the assessment of geological risks, as well as costing of recommended remedial/repair works to extend the operation period for a further 25 years. Services also included the preparation of preliminary layouts and costing of alternative project developments to determine various investment options.

NORTH ISLAND HYDRO POWER STATIONS AUTOMATION AND REMOTE CONTROL PROJECT (1990-1994)


Client:  Electricity Corporation of New Zealand Limited

The project involved the automation of 15 existing hydro power stations in the North Island of New Zealand for implementation of a SCADA system to enable the stations to be demanned and remotely controlled.  The design for each station included provision of a PLC-based distributed control system, local area network, PC-based station processor and interfaces to the Northern Hydro Control Centre SCADA system.

Services provided included investigation, specification and conceptual design of automation systems and facilities, and assistance and advice to the client during the procurement and implementation phases of the project.

AVIEMORE POWER STATION AUTOMATION AND REMOTE CONTROL PROJECT (1990-1992)
Client:  Electricity Corporation of New Zealand Limited

The project involved the automation of Aviemore Power Station for implementation of SCADA system for remote control.

Services provided included investigation, specification and detail design of automation systems and facilities for the existing Aviemore Power Station to enable this station to be demanned and remotely controlled, and assistance and advice during the procurement and implementation phases of the project.  The design included provision of a PLC-based distributed control system, local area network, PC-based station processor and interface to the associated SCADA system.
