PRIVACY POLICY STATEMENTType of Information HeldAs an essential part of its’ business activities in the consulting engineering and project management fields, SMEC holds Curriculum Vitas (CVs) and/or Database Registration Forms (with similar content) for individuals who have expressed interest in undertaking work with SMEC. In addition, a company may provide a CV of their employee as a representative of that company who could implement a project if SMEC is successful. Some or all of the following information may be contained in the CVs/Database Registration Forms
Purpose for Which the Information is UsedThe information provided, or relevant extracts of such, is used for the primary purpose of preparing Expressions of Interest and Proposals with the intention of advising clients of SMEC’s ability to undertake particular projects. CV may be modified to emphasise particular projects to alter the format to suit TOR for specific projects, or to change terminology to suit particular regional or duty requirements. Disclosures to Other Organisations/ Access to CVPersonal information as contained in an individual’s CV/Database Registration Form may be disclosed to:
SMEC will not disclose any individual’s personal information to any other organisation or to third parties for commercial purposes, other than those listed above, unless the individual’s consent has been obtained, or it is required by law. Access to Your InformationIn accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000, an individual can access their personal information held by SMEC, and advise if they think it is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. It is encouraged that the individual updates CV after each six months. CVs will be stored indefinitely or until removal is requested by the individual. SMEC’s retention of the CV is dependent upon 6 monthly updates of information. If not updated, SMEC will contact individual and request such. If update not forthcoming, CV will be removed from ‘active’ database utilize for current recruitment. There is no charge for an individual either requesting access to their personal information or SMEC’s provision of that access to you.
