New Chairman for SMEC Foundation

The Chairman of the SMEC Foundation, Doug Price AM, retired with effect from 31
December 2006 after five and a half years in the position.

Doug joined SMEC in 1970 after working with the Snowy Mountains
Hydro-electric Authority on the design and construction of the Snowy Mountains
Scheme. He was Managing Director of SMEC from 1975 until his retirement in 1989
and is highly regarded in engineering and development circles in Australia and
internationally. He was invited by SMEC to become the inaugural Chairman of the
Foundation when it was established in 2001.
The new Chairman of the SMEC Foundation is Les Douglas, SMEC’s Director
Corporate Affairs and a member of the SMEC Foundation Committee since its
inception. The other Committee members, Jill Hickson and Roger Bayliss, both of
whom are nonexecutive directors of SMEC Holdings Limited, have been joined
recently by executive director Geoff Percival.
