Who Are We?
SMEC is Australia’s most internationally prominent consulting firm with a turnover of more than A$135 million (US$70 million) and about 800 staff Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation (SMEC) was originally established by the Australian Government in 1970 to apply in Australia and overseas the technical and management skills developed for the Snowy Mountains Scheme hydropower and irrigation development in 1949-1974 SMEC was privatised by sale to the staff in 1993; the company remains staff owned.

SMEC is a multi-disciplinary supplier of consulting services to all levels of government, international agencies and the private sector Our core business is physical infrastructure (water, transport, energy), urban planning, social infrastructure (education, health, public sector reform) and environmental analysis Key services include investigations and analysis, project design, project management, construction supervision, program design, capacity building and training SMEC is regularly listed among the most successful Australian suppliers of services to the World Bank and Asian Development Bank in terms of number of assignments and value.

Where Are We?
SMEC has offices in most Australian capital cities and a series of representative offices
from Africa and the Gulf in the west through South Asia and South East Asia to China
and the Pacific Islands in the east.
