In the course of more than 30 years several thousand people have been employed by SMEC on either a permanent or long term contract basis. Working with SMEC enabled these people to pay their bills, buy their homes and educate their children. They also helped to build a major Australian company and, while doing so, completed socially and economically valuable projects, saw exotic and often remote parts of the world and made lifelong friendships with clients and colleagues.

SMEC has always had a very stable workforce and many staff have spent most of their working lives with the company. SMEC is keen to acknowledge the contribution that former staff have made to creating today's company. In the years 1995 and 2000, for instance, SMEC organised reunions of former staff in Cooma to celebrate 25 and 30 years of achievement. Where possible, the company tries to facilitate contact between former staff members who wish to keep in touch with the company or their former colleagues

This part of the website will be developed further in the future and suggestions from former staff about this are most welcome.
