With a significant number of opportunities expected to arise Climate Change in the South East Asia/Pacific over the next 12 months, SMEC International is seeking the services of suitable specialists to build on the internal expertise of SMEC International and SMEC Australia in a range of related climate change disciplines.

We are seeking specialists with experience in the following areas:

Mitigating greenhouse gases, with a focus on:

• The use of mechanisms and markets to encourage the sustainable management of forests for emissions reductions; and
• Using markets and technology to improve energy efficiency and access to clean energy sources.

Climate change adaptation, with a focus on:

• Science based assessment of the vulnerabilities to the impacts of climate change; and
• Adaptation and emergency planning for vulnerable communities, infrastructure and livelihoods.

It is preferable that specialists have experience working with multilateral organisations in the above areas and experience in Indonesia, PNG and the Pacific in particular.

Additional application requirements include: Post graduate qualifications - Regional experience – Government liaison and donor project experience.
