SMEC provides extensive training services in all aspects of construction equipment and workshop management, from apprenticeship training for mechanics and electricians, to management training for corporatisation and self-financing maintenance facilities, and has established an enviable track record of skills development in equipment and workshop management for the construction industry world-wide.

SMEC provides training in complementary skills, such as workshop management and stores supervision, and as well as full training in all necessary technical skills. SMEC also provides training for clients’ own instructors, so that a fully integrated workforce can be made available to ensure effective maintenance and operation for any equipment fleet, with the capacity to provide further training themselves whenever necessary.

SMEC has successfully completed many large projects to train personnel in construction plant and equipment operation and maintenance, which, in turn, has resulted in improved, cost-effective equipment fleet performance. Many of these projects have used the repair and rehabilitation of an existing heavy equipment plant fleet as the basis of training and transfer of technology, with the client’s staff fully participating in restoring their equipment to a useable condition and operating it on their own construction projects.
