SMEC's provides services for large multi-disciplinary projects and conducts a wide range of specialised water resources studies for clients.

The company has an extensive array of computer programs for rainfall-runoff modelling, flood prediction, the solution of problems in river channels and estuarine hydraulics, urban studies, the estimation of sedimentation and evaporation rates and reservoir behaviour studies. Strong emphasis is placed on using the most appropriate level of technology consistent with the data available and the scale and nature of the investigation in hand.

Senior Water Resources personnel have achieved international recognition in providing specialist expertise in hydrologic and engineering hydraulics investigations.

In the hydrologic field, the senior personnel have accumulated thirty years experience in a range of skills including hydraulic structures, river engineering, estuary and coastal behaviour, and sediment transport.

With the publication of a large number of papers, including invited lectures and papers in international conferences, these personnel have achieved international repute; They provide a skilled foundation for the many and varied capabilities of the Branch.
